Wildflowers blowing in the wind
They make me think it's summertime again
It takes me back to that place
And I feel a smile come to my face
Back when I'd run through cornfields so tall
They were amazing to me when I was so small
The tulips on the side of the home
I'd help Mom plant the bulbs so she wasn't alone
The sunflowers shining in our garden
Brought love to mind and all i wanted
I claimed if someone brought me a bouqet
They'd win my heart forever that day
That day is yet to come
But still plants remind me of my younger fun
My dad beaming about his growing tomatoes
Asking if i'd help him make salsa later
When they were all grown as well as the onions
So i'd chop them up and he knew i loved it
I loved to spend those moments with my dad
He'd teach me so much without knowing he had
My siblings and I used to run the fields all the time
Picking up dandelions and saying a silly rhyme
“Mama had a baby and his head popped off”
Somehow it always made us laugh
We spend so many endless nights and days
Exploring that outdoor world so amazed
I was lucky enough to grow surrounded by the living
Plants, I was taught, were for more than just giving
They give us food and air to breathe
And man how I loved to climb trees!
Humans tend to forget we are not the only ones
Who live on this earth and because of the sun
But everytime I see a flower blowing in the wind
I remember, and go back to that place again
