~Northward, the Train of Thoughts~
Northward, the train of thoughts, pulled behind him three boxcars packed with thoughts written on cards by the citizens of California, the world's newest country. All Californians were encouraged to write their thoughts on cards designed to be fed into computers which would sort the most original, creative, and constructive thoughts from the majority of thoughts so they could be sent to national thought readers to analyze. The ordinary, everyday thoughts were put through shredders and recycled to be used to make more thought cards. Almost everyone had a thought box next to their mailbox. The thought cards were collected from the boxes once a week and taken to warehouses where they would be loaded onto Northward to be delivered to the computer centers.
Northward was built solely for the purpose of delivering thoughts. His engineer had original and creative thoughts now and then, and one of them was to have Northward's warning signal be a dog's barking sound instead of the traditional horn sound of other trains. Most of the people of California liked the idea and Northward liked it, too. Everyone knew as Northward approached a crossing when they heard his loud "BARK! BARK! BARK!" warning signal. Northward "barked" all over the country of California and people from other countries would visit just to hear his signal: "BARK! BARK! BARK!"
