Dark and cold it is outside,
The poor old tramp hugged up
Nowhere to hide,
His freezing face red and sore
Looks in envy at the warm apartment store
His hair all matted clothes all torn
He didn’t want to have any more scorn
His dad he waits for him at home.
Mistreated him from the day he was born
He shudders and cries in pain
Don’t want sleep out here again
Why oh why cannot I live like all the rest
Is this god’s way of putting me to the test?
Hope this night will be my last
I have lived to long in this evil past
His eyes are strong but his heart is frail
With broken skin and broken teeth
He got from being in jail
Searching for food just to live
No sense of pride removing dustbin lids
Eating anything, he can
He lost the name of being a man
