Memory recalls days we shared and spent
to opinions nodding in agreement
When emotions exchanged pleasantries
we danced to the same tune
our tongues tasted the soup of concert
we wallowed in thoughts of great future
even though, some cracks we could not suture
Rays of unity beamed down at us
reflecting happy times that knew no fuss
grew our bond so tight
a feeling stronger than the night
Time did speak too soon somehow
eagle of envy sought us out
flying, soaring, and to us, targeting
Its claws grabbed and set apart
those great times of love and clout
Suddenly we became strangers to us
we had failed to catch the bus
the bus of friendship now runs past
Like flashes of lightning in a storm
Everything departs from norm
watching a bond, made not to last.
