Always since I went to my grandfather’s house I watched his guitar, always leaned on the couch with a notebook on one side. My grandfather plays guitar and teaches how to play it to some doctors in the center of Monterrey. Me and my cousins since we were children when we went to our grandparents house we always played football but sometimes I liked to try to play that guitar but I didn’t knew how, so one day years later I asked my grandfather what did he has on that notebook, (he with sudden expression of joy that is not very common on him) he showed me lyrics he has wrote and songs he played from other old group and I get very surprised that he had wrote some songs and also about how he played it since he has a half-finger cut off because he worked in a railroad station and in an accident he cut his finger. He plays “trios” music style that is very old, almost dead style, not very common to hear now days. So I told him I would like to play guitar and he told me that he will support me that is a very nice thing to play guitar something that will help me in life and I was very thankful for supporting my ideals so the next day my father came home with the guitar of my grandfather and told he send you this so I was very happy and surprised about the gift of my grandfather and what it mean to him, also that is a handmade guitar from Paracho, Michoacán. He always wanted to teach his family the culture of the guitar and the beauty of music but any of his sons where motivated by that until his grandsons, now we are 3 grandsons that play instruments me and another cousin play guitar and another cousin plays the accordion a Gabbanelli, who mostly plays northern music. So later when years passed I supposed as my grandpa doesn’t show affection to the ones he care about he didn’t wanted to give it to me face to face so he send it to me with my father so he wouldn’t show that feeling. Now every time I see my guitar and play it I always remember of my grandfather Pedro and his interests of spreading music.
