A son’s journey-The Road that never ends

He left one morning with the sun in his eyes,

A suitcase full of dreams and a heart full of lies.

Said he’d chasing the horizon, to find his place in the world,

But the wind whispered warnings, and the flags unfurled.

(Chorus)

Oh, the road that never ends, it’s a long, lonesome track,

Where the memories linger, but my boy don’t come back.

Every night I’m waitin’, with a light in the dark,

For the sound of his footsteps, but I’m just left in the dark.

I watched the seasons change, from summer to fall,

Each leaf that hit the ground, felt like a piece of my soul.

I wrote him letters, but the words never flew,

Just a paper trail of heartache, in a world so untrue.

(Chorus)

Oh, the road that never ends, it’s a long, lonesome track,

Where the memories linger, but my boy don’t come back.

Every night I’m waitin’, with a light in the dark,

For the sound of his footsteps, but I’m just left in the dark.

(Bridge)

Now the stars keep on shining, but they don’t light my way,

I’m a shadow of a father, in the silence I sway.

With a bottle and a prayer, I’m searching for peace,

But the ghosts of his laughter, they never seem to cease.

So here’s to the wanderers, and the dreams that they chase,

May they find what they’re seeking, in a faraway place.

And if you see my son, tell him I’m still here,

With an open heart waiting, and a love that’s sincere.

(Chorus)

Oh, the road that never ends, it’s a long, lonesome track,

Where the memories linger, but my boy don’t come back.

Every night I’m waitin’, with a light in the dark,

For the sound of his footsteps, but I’m just left in the dark.

So I’ll keep on looking, through the shadows and the pain,

In the hope that one day, he’ll walk back home again.

But until that moment, I’ll hold on to the past,

To the son that I loved, and the dreams that didn’t last.
