He left one morning with the sun in his eyes,  

A suitcase full of dreams and a heart full of lies.  

Said he’d chasing the horizon, to find his place in the world,  

But the wind whispered warnings, and the flags unfurled.

Oh, the road that never ends, it’s a long, lonesome track,  

Where the memories linger, but my boy don’t come back.  

Every night I’m waitin’, with a light in the dark,  

For the sound of his footsteps, but I’m just left in the dark. 

I watched the seasons change, from summer to fall,  

Each leaf that hit the ground, felt like a piece of my soul.  

I wrote him letters, but the words never flew,  

Just a paper trail of heartache, in a world so untrue.
