Sit back and listen to the story
Of the things you once knew and no longer do
You know who you are and what you want
But can you tell yourself you really know who you were
The past is foggy and lost
The memories fading into the abyss
Trying to sort out the dreams from reality
Changing the parts that are not what you want
Can you see yourself in a mirror and accept what you see
Do you truly know who you can be?
Your mind burns and spins as you listen to the story
Knowing there’s not a way to change what it says
Written in stone and engraved forever
Hiding what’s there to be who you are
Look at the reflection see yourself as others do
Then ignore it and see who you really are
Only you know your heart don’t let it break
From things that matter not and people who matter less
You are who you are good bad or indifferent because the story you hear
Live for tomorrow enjoy today and forever know there is no going back to yesterday…
