Dawn Beckons

Dawn Beckons

Half my life (or more) has passed.

Only God can tell.

I sit here in the midst of it and

ponder Heaven or Hell.

The mark on life, I hoped to make,

(I was a youthful fool),

Has lost its shine as years have passed.

I'm found here--still in school.

When now I've time to think on my

mistakes as well as goals,

I look again at what is left.

What yet for me unfolds?

I cannot dwell on hurtful past,

I dare not wait for dreams.

The landscape as I see it now,

a bronzed and sepia'd thing,

Could Sunset be or yet the best

that I have ever known.

I smile and meet it joyfully.

Dawn beckons and I come.

Challenge taken well, good poem Jess. Yes, we did chose the same color term, huh? Just a coupla PIPs.
I really like your backgound, wish I had found it! Did you determine the 'secret word'? I think I will add a link from mine back to yours, for those who want to see the other side of the challenge.
