City Lights, Starry Night

Folder:
2006-07 Poems

The gray wind sweeps over the hills.

Rustles the leaves in the wind.

Hundreds of colors,

Paper lights falling from the sky.

The moon high above,

Stars glitter the dark fall sky.

The light wind,

Caresses your skin,

The soft touch of nature,

No man can compare.

The dark towers,

Their lights blend into the sky.

The silent rooftops.

The crowded streets.

No one stops to notice...

The city lights in the Starry Night.

Time stands still,

As you stand in the middle of the square.

Most look at the lights.

Yet some can see beyond.

Beyond the glow of the neon,

Beyond the blinking bulbs.

High up in the heavens,

Stars unfold.

The greatest lights one can see,

So blurred by our failed attempts.

The closest sight is the tall towers,

Scraping the skies,

They blend in.

The late office workers,

Making a star of their own.

The city on a cool autumn night.

There is nothing as great.

To just stand out in the street.

The cool breeze from the country,

Falls into the streets.

As it fills your ears,

You forget the problems of your world.

Get carried away into the breeze.

Your breath,

Your soul.

The great park,

Colors of Red,

Hues of Orange,

Patches of Green.

Natures own rainbow,

And no rain to be seen.

The cool night.

The quiet sight.

Our grip remains tight.

Walking down the streets.

Hand in hand,

Such a perfect dream.

Such a perfect night.

Deep in the heart of city.

Away from the tourists,

The popular destinations.

You can lie back.

Sleep with towers of light.

For one night in the fall.

You can be one with the city lights,

And the Starry Night.
