The Beast

She came to his castle,

Uninvited, Unknowing,

What she would find there

For though she had once found him

Handsome, enchanting

He closed himself up

And became someone else'

 

She knew, there was no kindness,

That no love there could grow,

He answered the door with a snarl

And she knew,

He was spoilt, selfish and unkind

To the bone.

 

She gave him a rose, in return

for an ear, for a hand, for a kiss,

But he would not listen

And turned her away -

And as he said go away

She revealed her true self to him,

But at this point it was too late.

 

He wanted her,

But she reminded him of his ways,

And placed the rose in a glass,

Where it would stay 21 years,

Until he could learn to love

With all his heart and soul ,

Or he would remain the beast he was

And had become before....
