L.L Bean Pack

My father owned a purple L.L Bean backpack, he carried it around for almost 16 years. Never leaving his side always adjusted properly for great posture it was probably the only thing he packed and unpacked every single day. The journey started in 1999, shiny dark purple and with a brand new smell he chose it to accompany him in his new adventure. Young and captivated by the beautiful color, the backpack was the last thing that my family saw after saying goodbye to my father. He had chosen a backpack that could fit many books, accessories, tools, clothes, electronic devices and that would have carried other than objects great memories. Once reunited with my father we were let known that the backpack was important, he liked to take really good care of all of his possessions. My father was a prepared man, he would not leave the house without the backpack, whether it was to the flea market, his job, the supermarket, an amusement park, the zoo, the park, or any other place you can think of, even if it wasn’t dry the backpack wouldn´t be far behind. Over the years the backpack lost its shiny purple color and some of the stitches had burst from all the weight it had been carrying around, yet what came out of the pack never ceased to give you wonder. It had been over a decade and the zippers no longer worked and my father made it a greater cause to prolong the life of his treasured companion. It started to take longer to pack and it got even harder to unpack, it caused him great pain to see that the backpack was no longer effective. My family tried to rescue and prove the facts wrong, as sign of protest to the decay so my father would feel better. A good day was when the pack closed and a terrible one when it opened up in the middle of a hustle. Day after day, every time more often you would see the backpack in a corner lying there. After Safety pins, sewing and many repairs, 16 years and my father decided it was time to replace his backpack. In his nature he didn´t throw it away it had to many feelings, but more than a careful man he was prepared man, and eventually he found a new backpack, but in his heart he will always love the purple backpack.
