Morning Star

You held me in your breath,
crashing through angels as the light descended on our flight through infinity

Licking the edge of Michael's blade,
sealing shut the wounds on my tongue;
I held it under my breath

The seeds were blessed and spat on,
blooming orphans and disease
like a glitch in a printer

A throne of thorns and a crown of dust
watching patiently as dry lips spoke-
these words true again

Show me how to shine,
benovolently in your presence
kissing the sores on your feet

My hands are bound, my eyes are shut
there's dirt in my fingernails,
and I fear their expansion

"Light doesn't always show you the way."
you said pointing to the exit
I'm not leaving here on broken wings

You held me in your breath,
undying love wrathful as the sea
I do believe I am sinking

Folded, not broken
Falling, not flying
Vengful, not merciful

Drown me into sleep one last time
Love me as if I forgot your name
Please don't make me leave
