Peeling back the layers of my opaque flesh
-you are the only one who can see me
this way.
Tears roll out of my charcoal rimmed eyes
And streak my painted face
Looking more like soft incisions
Creating lines of darkness that expose the blackness within.
-you are the only one who can see me beyond
this façade,
Sobs escaping while I breathe
The words that tear down everything you ever knew or thought of me.
-you are the only one who can ever know this sickness pouring out of me.
Grown up, growing down, little girl.
Unwinding my past and uncovering all that I ever tried to hide.
The worst parts of me are purged out until there’s hardly anything left at all.
Just the small amount of good that I am. Trembling and unstable.
-you are the only one who has ever saved me.
