Star-crossed No More

   

He arrived ragged and torn, strung out on love, a tattered photograph of her pinned over his heart. His bloodied lips moved but no words came out. He turned the silver band on his ring finger round and round and round, finally yanking it off in an act of weary concession. Throwing it over his shoulder, he then fell to his knees in abject surrender.
