Along the water's edge
White rose bushes lining the path
Soft moonlight reflects over the lake
As a breeze moves through the willow trees
In the distance the crickets chirp
And water laps upon the sandy shore
A blanket rests upon the grass
Where a young couple sit
Gazing into each other's eyes
Seeing nothing but their love
The moon adding a pale glow
Glittering across the water
A cool breeze whispers past
Gently pushing them closer
In the silver light and sweet summer air
Nothing could be more perfect
Alone by the lake they fall asleep
Only to be awakened by the dawn
As sunrise illuminates across the lake
The only clue left of the night
Is a single white rose
Left by the water's edge
Every summer he still visits
Sitting in the spot they once came to
And leaves a single flower there
In memory of his first love
