WHAT DO YOU SAY TO SOMEONE ......A FRIEND
WHO HAS LOST SOMEONE SO DEAR
DEATH'S DOORS SEEMED SO FAR AWAY
YET THEY ARE SO VERY NEAR
MEMORIES OF A TIME GONE BY......FILLED WITH HAPPINESS
AND YET HERE AND NOW, TODAY IS SO FULL OF PAIN AND SADNESS.
THOUGHTS OF A SMILE AND A RADIANT FACE
A BEAUTY THAT DULLED EVEN THE DAWNING OF THE SUN
DEATH IS SO QUIET AND SEEMS SO VERY STILL
LIKEN TO THE SILENCE WHICH FOLLOWS THE FIRING OF A GUN
SORRY YET SORRY JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO BE GOOD ENOUGH
SORRY IS THE ONLY WORD, BUT OH LORD IT SEEMS SO ROUGH
EMOTIONS RUN AS DEEP AS AN OCEAN...A PIT OF SORROW OVERFLOWS
NO ONE REALLY KNOWS WHAT TO DO OR SAY
AND THE WIND WEEPS.......AS A ROSE IS PLACED UPON HER GRAVE
AND ALL THAT CAN BE SAID IS SORRY, SORRY, SORRY ON SUCH A DAY
Sorry
Your poem is so heartfelt and so straight forward. As you say it's so awkward to sum up death and the loss it leaves in others . A good poem I enjoyed reading it.
