My Musical Taste

Folder:
Self-Poetry

The music of my taste changes over time;
As I age and change my schizophrenic mind.
When I was little, I listened to Strawberry Shortcake a lot;
A children's music record player was what my sisters and myself got.
I also remember Barry Louis Polisar;
He was so funny, and made his sense of humor go far.
As time went on, I was influenced by my parents who grew up in the sixties;
And I listened to much of "The Beatles" because they were hippies.
Into the eighties, I listened to rap and '80's pop tunes;
Through many and many moons.
I also briefly listened to techno, influenced by my sister, Valere;
Which, in dance clubs of the time, created much salary.
In the nineties, I listened to '90's popular music, and now it makes me sick;
Because my ex-boyfriend lived up to the nickname for his name; "Dick".
In the millenium, I started listening to random pop music and country words;
Which now, I consider very absurd.
Presently, I mostly listen to silence and the music that my schizophrenic brain synthesizes;
Because I have personalities which are full of surprises.
