Is our life ameliorating, When a pauper kills another for a liter of wine,And a farmer calls his wife a swine,When a furious mob burns buildings and cars,And the nations wage wars,When a thug eludes with the money,And a clerk deludes, for a bottle of honey,When we bear the bad,And our children are at loggerheads,When a man sues his brother for entering his property,And another cages, the once footloose birds for self-ecstasy,Are we civilizing???
