Goodbye

Poems 2004

The flame flickers,
And the shadows dance with glee,
The light plays in your eyes,
The eyes that seem to rest on me.

The darkness hides behind the light,
Fearing what it does not understand,
There you stand before me,
Offering me your hand.

The shadows spin and twirl,
Dancing with the light,
Two worlds intertwine,
In the early morning of the night.

The shadows play beneath the moon,
Graceful in their certainty,
Morning draws near,
And it is not I with whom you will be.

The evil sun rises,
Sending the shadows to run and hide,
You and I remain,
And I hope the truth may have lied.

So as the light engulfs us,
And the darkness begins to die,
Will you still hold me?
Or will you say goodbye?
