The Daysleeper

They said that no human can drown?
Not in the ever tilting coral,
Where pungent copper sinks.
At least he wanted to believe that,
No human can drown.
Surrounded by the walls ever inching inward.
The scent of night seeping through the floorboards,
Flooding hazy dew pigmented vast red,
Dye sulfate cascading in water.
His eyes are white and the spark is gone.
What did he see that made him want to reach the sclera?
And he loved you the way the wind loves the trees,
Memories rushing through the breeze.
O mother of the sea she shall see,
All the colors and nights he was shown,
He gave away for something unknown.
And while he lay sleeping.
He rises above again,
And while he lay sleeping,
The world is no longer a grave.
