You took my hand

Almost meaning it,

You said it was what you wanted.

We gazed inside and dreamt of ways to live,

But inside it's cold

Now that the fever is gone.

You took my hand,

I felt you there,

Wrapped in a warm embrace,

I forgot the pain until you went away,

But you will carry on,

Not knowing you were meant to be my last.

You took my hand,

Your smile blinded me,

All along though

You could see,

I was never the one,

To whom you would give your love for free.
