Tell them I loved you
All Along
Though I couldn't bare
the wait and what-if's of being alone.
As every letter started
"Dear John"
365 poems so the love stayed strong;
but as time moved on
the lone canary sang it's song
the war tide echoed a battle cry,
one last plea to come home.
I've seen third world
and I've felt the blues
and every day you were off at war
I thought of you.
I know it takes a man
to do what you do,
I know it makes a man
change his ways out of the blue,
I know it breaks a man
when all that's left is you.
Fragile as a bomb
time moved on
every lesson, every blessing
every memory we lived seperately
cherished so heavily-
as so softly on new territory we tread,
more like a lover than a best friend,
within the covers of each book
lives the words left unsaid:
Veritas aequitas until the very end
