As a child I sat
Soaking in the tub.
Warming water
Swirled around me
As I moved
My hands back
And forth,
Back and
Forth.
As a child I sat
And placed a spot
Of shampoo
On my shimmering
Wet palms
And brought the lather
By rubbing them back
And forth,
Back and
Forth.
As a child I sat
Placing
Fingertip to fingertip,
Heel to heel
And spread the middle
Slightly
To see and feel the film
Move back
And forth
Back and
Forth.
As a child I sat
And barely blew
The softest breath,
The shampoo film
Stretched
To touch the water.
I closed my palms,
A bubble formed
And moved back
And forth,
Back and
Forth.
As a child I sat
And watched
The shimmering surface
Change colours,
Orange
Blue
Green
Blue
Orange
In the reflection
Of the light, Back
And forth
Back and
Forth.
As a child I sat
And though
Of how nice it is
To do this Back
And forth
Back and
Forth
Even at Fifty-three.
I loved this one. I could see everything you described, and I can relate to growing older with defiance. Thanks for stopping by my page.
Oh, to see the world through eyes of a child. You have captured the essence of childlike innocence.

As I sat here reading this it reminded me of the simple things we enjoy as kids, wonderful little things like bubbles (I still buy a bottle of them now and again for myself) But, you know, I think I got the biggest grin from that last line. Bravo....never lose that little kid! Thanks for the read.
