Layer Poetry is what I call poems within poems. The intent with these poems is to imbed a secondary or tertiary message within a stanza or within the poem a whole in order to create added context i.e. a secondary meaning that begins a conversation with the surface meaning. The key to reading these poems is to look around and see if there are different ways to read the poem. Especially in poems like W H E R E A R E A N Y O N E, there are seven different ways to read that poem.
