"Dare to Dream?"

                        DARE TO DREAM ?

I’m a person of observation; most times I’d prefer to watch than to participate.

Sometimes I feel courageous; but often that’s too late.

Through my observant nature I’ve come to realize that sometimes what we’re looking for is right before our eyes.

People sometimes say that I need a better grasp on reality; or that I have an over-active imagination.

But comments like those usually come from those whose minds are on a permanent vacation.

People of today seem to be afraid of dreaming.

So it’s my duty to give their imagination a redeeming.

We should respect each other’s opinions and recognize our individuality.

Who cares what I prefer? Why not just let me be me?

I find that it takes a lot of courage to be the independent mind.

People with distinguishing qualities seem way too hard to find.

I dream of the day, when society is not so quick to judge.

Society will not influence me, my opinion will not nudge.

I’ve been accused if being stubborn for refusing to conform.

In an ice-cold world, the thought of dreaming of different places is quite warm.

I know that dreaming is only a brief escape from reality.

But, dreaming is my god given right that I will continue to use actively.

Traditionally daring to dream has proven a costly task.

But it’s a cost I’m willing to pay; you don’t even need to ask!

Someone once said to me that I was a fool for daring to dream, because the burden carried was not fair.

But, that statement doesn’t affect me because I’m courageous; besides most people couldn’t dream to dare.

Author's Notes/Comments:

One of my first poems I wrote I was probably about 18 or 19 years old and soo inexperienced LOL It amazes me at the consistent writing techniques I've maintained though
