"Contradict The Rain"

“Contradict The Rain”

Sky’s getting dark, the temperature is dropping, on top of it all, we risk pain.

This scenario is familiar; we don’t like it, wondering if we should face it again.

The forecast though not encouraging, is not set in stone or anything we’re not apt to sustain.

Historically stormy weather has prevented progress, but if the gods are merciful our unity will “Contradict the rain”.

Night after night we engage in conversation, learning one-another inside and out.

Knowing so much about each other should reassure us of our contentment, but yet we have our doubts.

Confessions of love are soothing to our ears, but somehow not enough to prevent fears.

Will we withstand the trials normally encountered by young love and maintain our devotion through the years?

I have arthritis; which is normally triggered by a storm approaching, and right now my body is starting to ache.

Can this be a sign of danger something we shouldn’t engage in? Or is our love worth the chance we take?

We’ve encountered many a cloudy day prior to our meeting, and obtained a few abused hearts; neither of us are strangers to pain.

But can either of us afford to invest our time in a risky adventure with no promised happy endings; and still remain sane?

Instinctively we would feel much better with a shelter near by if the storm proves too strong of an opponent.

But neither of us are cowards evident in our current acquaintance; and fear will not be our companion if we don’t own it.

A forecast is just a prediction we don’t know for sure what the conclusion will be.

Apparently there are some very important decisions to be made by you and me.

Obstacles build character so we both have much to offer one another and even more to mutually gain.

I bet outsiders will call us foolish for venturing out with a forecast of more 50% chance of rain.

But I think two courageous souls with loyal hearts and a shared desire will not try anything in vain.

As long as we have each other our future is sunny and if we have to we’ll surely “Contradict the rain”.
