The whole reality
of life and death
is so disheartening,
the way we slowly decay.

The can affect any part of
mind: dementia, paranoia
body: cancer, heart disease
soul: depression, broken hearts.

We spend our last years
in pain, insane or in despair;
what a tragic conclusion
to a beautiful story.

To watch our loved ones
witness our deterioration
is more difficult than
experiencing it ourselves.

Sitting in the hospital
in these (death) beds
while they stand around
mourning the inevitable.

I'd rather be taken
in a split second
than to gradually waste
away on this earth.
