she was meant to soar.
She nurses her scars,
whimpering over
her weaknesses.
She crawls into the nest
of missed opportunities,
never realizing how much
she still has to offer.
Despite her flightlessness,
the world will never see
her bright colors.
She is more than a caged bird,
she is broken,
but that’s what makes her
beautiful.
