Exhausted from two days
in the so-called
Happiest Place on Earth,
I fell into a deep sleep.

I was startled awake
by a dream so vivid it felt true…
then my worst nightmare
became my reality.

I wrapped myself
around your arms
as you hushed my fears
only to rouse them again.

In the darkness before morning,
I mourned the finality
that would come to light
along with the dawn.
