Fall in Love

Be careful how quickly

you give your heart away.

For the recipient of your love

may gladly walk away

from fear of moving too quickly.

No one likes to be smothered

with love when it not

yet requited.

Love slowly but deeply.

Don’t skip into love

for it will be shallow and not last.

Fall so gently, but don’t

stop falling until you are knee deep,

and your heart is submerged in another.

Inspired by: "You have to walk carefully in the beginning of love. The running across fields into your lovers arms can only come when you’re sure they won't laugh if you trip."
