Burden Bearer

Folder:
Divine Revelation

I cannot carry this burden

on my back any longer;

it’s weighing me down.

It drags me on through

the muddy pits of misery,

and my feet are stuck.

When it seemed everything

was falling into place,

You came and took it away.

Now these hands are

empty, my back tense,

my tears flow loosely.

My eyelids are closing;

I’m so near giving up

but you keep me standing.

Why do You have me here?

All I see is pain and loneliness

on the distant horizon.

I am not strong enough;

I’m beaten down so much.

I can’t take it anymore.

God, if you are there,

show me your purpose

for this meaningless life.
