We're surrounded by gossipers
spreading lies and rumors
but I have a secret no one knows.

You're my sunrise in the morning,
my strength throughout the day,
my resting place at night.

But to lose you is a greater risk
than any reward garnered from having you.

So on we will go laughing in silence,
brushing arms and trading glances,
knowing for now we cannot be.

One day we may pursue this flirtation
but not now for the sake of
keeping things status quo.

The whispers around us
may become deafening in time.

But to know the truth
was worth the chance,
to know there is a chance.

Just not now.
