Yesterday
You unleashed your quicksilver tongue
And we scampered for cover from your ire
But some of us weren't lucky,
They got nicked in the nasty mess of politics;
The fragrance of life faded into the blight,
Life wasted by the tragic drama of
Malice, fanatism, greed, grandstanding,
Spinning in trysts like the devil's whirlwind.
Our heads spin too, in confusion
When you unleash the thunder
In your mouth!
Our social cord's severed by the barbarism, as
Maladjusted enemies of humanity
Kill our dreams of social cohesion,
Human sanctity defied in selfish pursuits.

How would we cleanse this sepulchre of arrogance
And vituperation, where seeds bear bellicose barterers?
Where did we go wrong as humanity that we abandoned
Our offspring, left them sprawled on the wild grass,
Confused, vulnerably exposed to the vagaries of life?
As the question gnaws my conscience, i bow
My crest-fallen head to regather the pieces
Of broken stars reborn to us today like sunlight;
I put them on, over my black crown; an arrow shines,
A cursor pointing at the heart of the whirlwind
Overcasting the chained heart of humanity.
