In every child
I see the child of Palestine:
solitary child weeping
In the sullen valley of history.
Child, don't look at me with
such eyes of suspicion
that i believe not your course.
But shall i ever see commitment
to peace in your heart?
I hear you asking
fingers, as ever, on trigger
no intentions, of course
to let go of a portion of Jerusalem!
You looks up to heaven to swear.
Perpetually on vigil
under the shadow of a rogue cousin
aiming for an equally just course.
Guarding churches, synagogues and mosques
And age-old sepulchres
snashed of their halo.
Dialogue had failed.
Shall i ever see
A commitment to ceasefire?
In every child of the world
I see you, wrapped
In your envelope of innocence
Beseeching, bleeding
For understanding.
Believe me brother, i, convalescing from madness,
And bleeding
in my heart for love in the world.
