Nothing Between pt. II: Closing Goodbye

Folder:
Extended Poetry

Closed arms

A hug to end the night

Closed hands

Dragged together one last time

Closed mouth

A kiss from lip-to-lip

A grin from ear-to-ear

Farewell my love

Till the moon’s heart won’t beat another step

And the light burns so much it shrinks out

Sunrise

Goodbye

A thousand times goodbye

A thousand times to not forget

A goodbye is love

Too sad to touch

Too sad to feel after goodbye

Not nearly enough to end a night with you

To top off a final star on a Christmas tree

To place a hat on that slim and shiny suit

To top it off with a cherry

On the tip of the ice cream tower

Goodbye for now

Goodbye for later

Goodbye for me and for you

For good-byes do not end

Till hello cuts that thin piece of thread

Cuts the opening day ribbon

With shiny scissors

To start a new night

A new conversation

A new meal to start and end, Goodbye

Closed and so close, hugs are, good-byes are

Are for now and for then

And for further down the line

Goodbye is to catch the last laugh by the collar so firm

To swallow it down like a curse or blessing

To catch a tiger by the toe

Goodbye is the curse of waiting in impatience

So learn to count the seven seas

And leave it be before this goodbye runs dry of ink

Goodbye, my love

…Is too soon…
