My mother's nativity scenes

My mother’s nativity scenes inspire her along the year. She collects them although the year, in winter and even in spring. She keeps buying many, even though she has more than 23.

She says she buys them throughout the year because that way they’re cheap, but I just consider it makes her feel thrilled.

When Christmas is approaching, well Halloween I mean, she starts putting up her nativity scenes. She can’t wait for November 1st to arrive, because that would mean Christmas isn’t afar.

Her nativity scenes vary in color and size, but she loves each one of them and wouldn’t choose one. Some are made of wood, some are made of stone, some are very modern and some are very old. She puts them in drawers and in the kitchen near the food, don’t judge her, but in the bathroom, too.

And I can’t even start talking about her Christmas tree, each year more colorful and very upbeat.

When Christmas day arrives, her nativity scenes really stand out. The nativity scenes are very well liked, liked by my grandfather and even my aunt. Everyone appreciates her collection and it makes her feel proud, that’s why she says she’ll continue, even though her collection is far. I quietly consider she doesn’t collect them for this reason, I just consider it makes her feel gleeful.

On Christmas day, her nativity scenes are the stars, they steal the attention even from my cousins Glazed Ham. And don’t let me start with the Breakfast Cornbread that passes just as unobserved. My aunt tries to brag about my cousin’s good grades, but no one pays attention they’re just so impressed. The collection has been an object of envy, but that just makes it grow plenty. Without a doubt, the nativity scenes are the stars of the jolly Christmas night.

But when January arrives, my mother takes everything out. She says Christmas being over makes her real sad. She doesn’t even wait for the second week of the month, she just takes everything down before she feels sorrowful. We tell her each year “Wait a little bit to take it all down!”, she says “I don’t care, the decorations are mine.” What can I say? She speaks the truth, no one else in the family would spend their money on that kind of goods.

But even though, it’s sad to see the house without her nativity scenes, it makes it feel even more special when she puts them the next year.

I indeed cannot wait, to see what she’ll add to the collection next.
