The Paradox (Fable)

In our universe, the sun and the moon were the gods of life on earth, and in planet Earth, lived a white tiger and a lion. These creatures enjoyed running all day for their prey. Their day consisted of elementary activities. They hunted, ate, and slept. But every night, they both traveled to the very top of the Mount of Temptation to admire the perfectly enlightening and dazzling moon. The lion had always been jealous of the white tiger, because everyone praised the color of his fur, and the lion was always belittled and felt left out. Even being gods of life, perfect beings that maintained balance on earth, they still had their issues. The moon always outshined the sun even when the light of the sun was brighter, because every living thing in earth cherished the moon more than the sun. All creatures on earth felt inspired during the night, and prayed to the moon. The moon was constantly the spotlight. In our galaxy, the moon and the sun couldn’t stand each other, because one always thought it was better than the other. The sun was jealous of the moon, and the moon had always felt superior. The moon felt flattered each night while all creatures stared at it for hours, singing and dancing to the moonlight, when the sun felt neglected every day while all creatures on earth searched for a little shade to block the sunlight. One day, the lion plans and decides to kill the white tiger out of jealousy in front of all the other creatures, so they could finally respect and love him, or so he thought. When the white tiger was dead, every other living thing surrounding him, turned their backs on him, despised him and missed the white tiger. On the other hand, the sun was constantly wishing he had the attention the moon got every night, and one day the sun felt so despondent and down-hearted that his light and warmth died out. The moon truly did not care, because it occurred during the day, until the night came along and he found out he couldn’t shine without the sun. He lost the admiration of all earth creatures because without the sun they couldn’t prevail, since the sun gave them the warmth they needed to survive. Earth as we know it came to an end at the moment the sun extinguished his light. The moon was soon forgotten, and was unnoticeable in the galaxy. From being the center of the spotlight, he became a ball of nothingness. Both creatures and universe must have been a paradox. The galaxy sun was the lion of earth, and the moon was the tiger. One couldn’t exist without the other.

The moral of the story is that jealousy is an issue to others, but a torment for themselves too. Everyone in this world is important and you should never make someone feel inferior. Jealousy and envy lead to terrible things that can be easily avoided.

“Intelligent, successful, attractive people can be intimidating. They force us to hold a mirror to ourselves; we can be disappointed, jealous, or inspired toward personal growth.” - Ian K. Smith
