I smile when I think of the rain in my life
The grief that has made me stronger
I admit it’s not always an easy path
The obstacles make my road seem longer
My path has been steep, sometimes out of control
But what I don’t always see
Is that the obstacles placed throughout this road
They are placed there just for me.
When life seems hard and I’ve grown tired
The obstacles take on new meaning
It’s then they’re not in my way at all
Because it’s to them I seem to be clinging
I’ve been told by many old souls
That wisdom comes with age
There’s freedom in our leisurely roads
So don’t live your life in a cage
The honor of knowing these very wise souls
Have made me rich beyond measure
I now count each blessing I have
This means more than any rare treasure
