Wall Of Masks

I am not a pretentious person, and I refuse to be.

I refuse to smile and pretend to be comfortable when

I've been set upon a bed of thorns, whether it be

made up of five or five hundred.

You will not guilt me due to the fact that we differ,

and that I have not yet found a way to repay the gift I've been given.

There should be no debt at all for being the unlikely hero that steps forward to

do the right thing that so many others cannot muster the courage for.

There is only one objective in this life; to go forth and endure a journey of self-discovery

and learn each and every crevice of who we are.

To live life as that person, dark and light as our aspects may be and to refuse to compromise

that ultimate aftermath that makes us beautiful.

The next time you ask me to give a gift, remember that the scale is always in play.

If it requires taking off my face and putting a mask in its place, casting aside who I am,

the answer is no and always will remain.
