Blue

Folder:
2011

The darkest blue turns into bright
Like a newborn swaddled in cotton sheets
Veins that run like rivers, seeping into wishing wells
Trapped by all the browns and greens
Free them with a violent storm
Or send them down a rabbit hole
Mythical, like roses bleeding blue
Let the stars keep watch like eyes,
Though they’re stitched like buttons on denim jeans
I’ll sing the blues to a muddy breeze
The harbor, the place my veins will be
