The happy hearts these walls contain
Don't mix well with my somber soul
Amongst the crowd I can not stay
But I can't go home
No, I can't go home.
If I stomach one more smiley face,
I might vomit the hunger I can't control.
Though my eyes may twitch, my limbs may shake,
I can't go home;
No, I can't go home.
My tears won't disturb the peace, I pray,
I hope they can't see the pain I hold.
If I beg or I shout or I plead I'm afraid
They may send me home;
But I can't go home.
