If you were standing in no man’s land
And the fire began to rise
And your enemies were coming forth
Their soul as black as the skies
Would you withstand the danger coming?
Would you fight on this day?
Or would you turn around and flee
Would you just run away?
How about if the cause was just?
What if it was for freedom?
Could you turn your back on that?
Could you lie down and succumb?
You cannot leave the battlefront
You cannot run away
You cannot turn your back on them
These men that fight this day
Some people want all of the wisdom
Some want all of the gain
Without ever having learnt a lesson
And skipping out on the pain
If you could stand in a soldier’s shoes
If you could be him at night
To lay beneath the starry skies
Would you know wrong from right?
Or what if you were to die today
Without having been alive
Is it the same as struggling?
In the war IF you survive?
A man is a man, no matter what
And when given his honor and due
He too will fight for whatever cause
In this world we call a zoo
Maybe one day we’ll all give up
When there’s no way left to cope
If this fight goes on, this ignorance
We too may give up hope
Or maybe we’ll be standing there
Beneath the black light sky
And we’ll remember what death is
And what it’s like to die
