She shook the rain from her umbrella
And set it by the door
Leaving it to slowly dry
There upon the floor
She sat next to the fire
Warming from its heat
Shivering and shaking
Huddled in her seat
The door then slowly opened
In walked a man she knew
He took off his coat, hung it by the door
And removed his sopping shoes
He took the seat right next to her
And looked her in the eye
She glanced at him, then at the fire
And she began to cry
He brought her close and held her
Within his warm embrace
Gently wiping away the tears
Sliding slowly down her face
Feeling his strength and comfort
She finally let go
The tears came like a waterfall
Over which she had no control
Tears stung her eyes and cheeks
She cried until she could not breathe
A weight slowly lifted off her heart
As she finally let herself grieve
