After this time we're spent apart,
It's made it easier on my heart.
I do wish you the best
Joy, strength, happiness
The day I walked out, there was no turning around
I heard your heart shatter when it hit the ground.

Past is past, the future we have to make bright
You can't keep blaming me for the mistake that night
I could find another just like you
Promising me lies that never come true;
A wonderful life, but it wouldn't have been that easy
Your lies and words were always covered by beauty.

The truth is, you couldn't have given me what I needed
No matter how much I would have begged and pleaded
Sometimes people just can't be together
Even though there are promises of forever
Love is funny like that, or it seems to be so
Sometimes the best thing is just to let go.

I could have let go in better ways
That way we wouldn't fight every day
But then again, the point was made across
I know this is nothing but my own loss
So I walk away with a smile that never fades
But the pain is cut so deep with the same blades.
