It seems as if I am alone, wondering to myself why

I've got the dress and the shoes, still I'm left to cry

People dancing all around; Voices say I'll be alright.

I look around for his face.  Oh where is my love tonight?



Where is the guy that has my love, the one with my heart?

He said he would be here. He promised never to be apart.

I look down at the floor, time goes slowly on through the night

I start to worry.  As I drive home, I see no sign of light.



I drive by his house, his car is there.  Is that another girl?

I slow down to see.  I watch as the images crush my world.

I drive on with tears in my eyes, knowing what I'd just seen

Friends warned me, but I just couldn't start to believe.



I stop on the side of the road and call up my friend who's crazy about me

I tell him what just happend and he runs to my car, just to see,

He holds me and tells me I'm beautiful and through my tears

He knows that leaving my boyfriend is my biggest fear.



He kisses my lips softly and gets into the passenger side

He holds my hand and says "Tears just aren't meant to hide."

I lay my head on his shoulder and cry out all of my pain,

All I wanted was for one simple kiss in the pouring rain.



I take him back to his place, the rain starts coming down

He pulls me out of the car and we dance on the ground

My hair is wet, makeup all smeared down my face,

This is the night no one will ever replace.
