My mother’s tennis shoes

A woman and the right shoes can get far together. My mother and her light blue tennis shoes have always been able to go above and beyond the ordinary. No one would ever be capable of understanding what those shoes meant to her. They’re her life, her everything. This mother of mine has been up and about and all around with her shoes. I remember she used to run 25 miles every day when I was young, and just in case you’re wondering, no, that is not a hyperbole, or in colloquial language, an exaggeration. I am completely serious; she ran a lot! She ran with the wind. Seeing her delicate but precise movements amazed me every day. Although, I always thought it was something about her shoes and their shape that made her a better runner, but it has always been her deeply love to life. Her shoes are flexible; her shoes are always comfortable; her shoes are perfect. That’s how my mom has always been, a lovely, perfect, caring women. She could run with them under any circumstance. It could be a sunny day, a rainy day, an airy day, a snowy day and it simply didn’t matter; she kept running and the shoes always kept fine. Her shoes fixed her every emotion whether she was happy, sad, angry, or any other way. She wore them when we traveled, when we shopped, at work, and at home.

With her quick and decisive steps she has always been there for me, through good and bad, happy and sad, around and around no matter what. One day, not too long ago, she came by with her shoes ready to ride, and for my surprise my mom had bought a pair to my delight. Up to this day, every time we see each other again we put on our tennis shoes and we start running together through life. As we start running our heart starts pumping harder and louder and at the same time raising our spirits. As we run and run we realize that we never want to stop. Running together, my mom and I, we feel like the world is ours. The connection we feel through our steps and the mutual sound of our heavy breaths can only explain the happiness my mind and body feels at that moment. No sandals or boots, cousins or friends, can make me feel the excitement and happiness that I feel when I run with my mom and our pair of light blue tennis shoes.
