Dream Interrupted

You were the best dream that I ever had.
Such perfection,
Treading unknown waters
As it dared to cross the borders into the realm of consciousness
Close enough to touch, yet so far away
I lost myself in your eyes
Believing that maybe, just maybe
You lost yourself in mine.

But that was just a pretty girl's lie
A silent one
The most dangerous kind
That foolishly led my heart to love

And like every good dream
It must come to an end
Violently waking up
Resisting every second that reality tugs me back

Interrupted.

As I close my eyes
I try to will my mind back into the same thread of a dream
Hopelessly searching
For something that was lost in my mind as I awoke

And I fear, I may never see your face again
That charming smile that caused me to lose my place in the world
That soothing voice that could will my racing heart to a steady beat
I fear I've lost something that I'll never find again

And now, I'm just lost.
