Be not afraid, O friend of mine,
Of tears and scars the years may bring,
For friendship's an enduring thing,
Beyond earth's wisdom to define.
Of inner faults and errors made,
Fear not a friend's discovery,
If I could view indifferently
Or cease to care, be then afraid.
My dearest, neither fear not fret
That love may fade, grow dull or cold,
For when two natures twine and fold
And Inter-live, can one forget?
What greater love can this transcend?
Or more depict the Love divine,
For He whose power and love combine
Once deigned and died to call us "friend".
