No Shoes, No Coat
He went out on the road
Just a singing his song
But he didn’t know what to do
Making it up
Just as he went along
But somehow he made it through
It started to rain
And it got too cold
So he asked you for help
He was drenched to the bone
Without no coat
But you kept him out
The vagabond at your door
Is asking you for a little more
But you said no and go away
You’re not welcome to stay
With all that he owned
Upon his back
He tried to make ends meet
A cap on his head
Torn clothes on his back
But still no shoes on his feet
He was singing the high notes
But only hitting the low
As he came around the bend
To everyone he crossed
He said hello
And they all became his friends…
Except for you
