i'm crossing past your border
and there's nothing you can do
and i'll hide in california
till there's more of me than you
i swear i love this country,
credit cards and apple pies
that's why me and uncle julio

i've started up a family
and we live here, everyone
just grandma, grandpa, brothers,
sisters, mothers, uncles, sons
we're squished in like sardines
but it's all that we can do
and we have parties in our backyard
all in spanish just like you

thank God for the mass media
and democracy too
these starving, hostile immigrants
need welfare checks from you
there's prosperity today
